Mmmm… chocolate.

Look what the lovely and generous gave me!

Sock yarn! And the colorway is S’mores. How perfect is that for me? I had admired it on her blogspot blog and joked that if she ever wanted to get rid of it, think of me. And she did! Which was good, because I wasn’t joking, I was gonna put on a ski mask and come over there and get it myself. These’ll be some lovely, lovely socks. I’m all about the socks now.

In other news, the electric ice-cream maker works like a dream. And my daughter learned a valuable lesson in why you don’t eat rock salt. Yikes. Well, at least the ice cream is good!

I’m taking prednisone for the poison ivy, which had better start working soon before my hand goes all evil on me and starts doing things of its own volition. It ain’t good. And of course, since I’m on steroids now, I can’t compete in the Tour de France like I was planning. Darn the luck!

Off to sit with Salty Boo.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

Words came slowly, “You are the next director.”
And Bogert relaxed into a tight smile, “This is good to know. I’ve been hoping and waiting for this. Thanks, Herbie.”

I still haven’t had a chance to read this yet, but it’s on my computer table!

Maybe not shingles…

August 2nd, 2006 14 comments

…maybe poison ivy instead. The doc says it looks like a contact dermatitis to him, although he wouldn’t rule out shingles based on the arm thing. Anywho, I’ve got prescriptions for valtrex (shingles) and prednisone (inflammation from contact dermatitis) and instructions on what to take when and how. Hey, fine by me, I’d much rather have a run-of-the-mill blistery, disgusting rash than a flareup of an old virus which can cause shooting pains in your nerves.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it were poison ivy, although that wouldn’t explain all the nastiness last week. I was pulling weeds a couple of days ago and barely brushed some, then immediately told Emily to come inside and washed my hands right away. It’s possible I missed a spot. I’m very susceptible to poison ivy ever since getting it as a child – and the tale of that is a whole other story in itself.

The doctor was running a full hour behind, but Emily (whom I brought with me) was very good the entire time. We stopped by Target aftward as a reward and she picked up a new Groovy Girl mini, which she is happily playing with now.

Other good mail: an electric ice cream maker which my husband got as a reward for ten years of service. We’ll definitely put that to good use! AND a piece of mystery mail which I ordered for someone else arrived today, and I can’t wait to give it to them! Yay for unexpected gifts!

I’m pretty sure I’ve got shingles again.
More unpleasantness under cut.
