…maybe poison ivy instead. The doc says it looks like a contact dermatitis to him, although he wouldn’t rule out shingles based on the arm thing. Anywho, I’ve got prescriptions for valtrex (shingles) and prednisone (inflammation from contact dermatitis) and instructions on what to take when and how. Hey, fine by me, I’d much rather have a run-of-the-mill blistery, disgusting rash than a flareup of an old virus which can cause shooting pains in your nerves.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it were poison ivy, although that wouldn’t explain all the nastiness last week. I was pulling weeds a couple of days ago and barely brushed some, then immediately told Emily to come inside and washed my hands right away. It’s possible I missed a spot. I’m very susceptible to poison ivy ever since getting it as a child – and the tale of that is a whole other story in itself.
The doctor was running a full hour behind, but Emily (whom I brought with me) was very good the entire time. We stopped by Target aftward as a reward and she picked up a new Groovy Girl mini, which she is happily playing with now.
Other good mail: an electric ice cream maker which my husband got as a reward for ten years of service. We’ll definitely put that to good use! AND a piece of mystery mail which I ordered for someone else arrived today, and I can’t wait to give it to them! Yay for unexpected gifts!
