Late night roundup.

Time to turn in, but I haven’t updated in a couple of days, so the high points!

Several Jayne hat kit orders came in, and I needed to get more sheet protectors for the patterns. I idiotically managed to purchase 200 semi-clear sleeves instead of clear ones, and didn’t notice until after I’d opened them. They’d work great if nobody actually wanted to SEE what they were knitting. So it’s up to the office store tomorrow. I’ve had several people comment that they were very happy to get them in protectors – I know some outfits, like Knitpicks, don’t do that. But it’s worthwhile. I had a woman e-mail me last week to tell me that her kit had arrived. Then she e-mailed me not ten minutes later to thank me for putting the pattern in plastic sleeves, because it had literally been in the house for those ten minutes before her son set a cold drink on a page. She’s knitting the hat for her other son – could this be a little touch of sibling rivalry?

I’ve had to purchase more Silk Garden for a current order. Apparently Noro changed their formulation for Silk Garden “rainbow” colorway 87 sometime in 2005. I had only been checking to see if it was still available, not if the company had whimsically decided to revamp the colorway. When someone ordered a beanie in that colorway from www.wearwithstyle.com last month, I said “sure!” So what’s the problem?

Old hat. New hat. Both colorway 87.

WTF?? Same colorway! Same number! Noro, you bastards! Major props to who managed to turn up This site in Norwegian, which my Google-fu failed to unearth. As nearly as I can tell, it is the only place on the web that explains what the hell happened. Ugh.

I’ve ordered some of the old colorway that I found on eBay. I wrote the seller to verify that it’s not an old picture of new yarn (at least one other seller did that), so hopefully all will be well. UK-lady needs her beanie!

And speaking of eBay, I put up a few skeins of yarn for sale. I’ve got plenty more to let go, including scads of Noro, Baabajoe’s woolpak in black, a lot of Crystal Palace cotton chenille, and some Mango Moon Sparkle among others.

I was in a bit of a sour mood tonight after realizing I couldn’t get my kits all packaged up, so I decided to knit something for myself. I worked another section of repeats on Shedir. Old pic as I am too sleepy to take a new one tonight. Time-consuming, but gratifying!

I’ve been working like a demon on the Jayne hat list, which is now down to around 25! Yay!

And now, I must get some sleep, as my daughter has taken to waking up at 5:15 in the morning instead of the previously agreed-upon six a.m. Ah, the good old days when I could sleep until seven…

I thought of you when I was at AggieCon last month. A group of the students were the cast from Firefly as their costumes … and Jayne really needed one of your hats! I never got close enough to him to give him your info though. ::sighs::
