Paging Dr. Frankenstein…

Anybody here every reconstructed a Barbie or other hollow plastic figure? I’m looking at a little project.

Don’t worry about me, I’ll be just fine…

I used to put the heads back on sometimes, but I never had to reconstruct the body.

I have a couple around here somewhere, & I’d totally experiment for you, but I don’t know where the box is. I know they’re hollow (now), but I thought they were kind of thick. I remember accidentally dismembering one and the material went MOST of the way through. Not like those thin “shell” dolls at the Dollar store.

    Good luck!

I used to gnaw the feet off my Barbies when I was little. Every time I lost a tooth I’d start chewing on everything in sight, and those rubber legs had the perfect consistency.

Now that, I can do. We have a Ken who keeps mysteriously getting decapitated, and I keep patching him up with hot glue. It’s really not the best choice, but it’s the quickest. Ken can’t be out of action too long, you know.

Now that brings up a good point, that maybe I should be looking at a different kind of doll. I was going to go for the Barbie because the costume I wanted would already be there, but I could perhaps stitch a new one if it would make the other half of the project easier.

Ha! We used to give our daughter a clean, unused sneaker when she was younger. Nothing like the sight of a toddler gnawing on a shoe while her parents look on approvingly.
