Stiff neck?

Okay, folks, do you have favorite remedies for a stiff neck? This is going on three days, and it’s gotten worse each day. Obviously I’ll be looking at my environment to see what I’m doing that’s causing this, since I guess it’s not just a one-time injury, but in the meantime, I gotta do something about this. It’s impairing my ability to function. Tips and tricks, anyone?

urk. No, I don’t have any remedies.

Are you online a lot or do you sit around a lot without proper neck support? I.e. does the back of your chair not have any neck rest things? Or when you sit, does your back not touch the back of the chair and you’re kinda suspended away from the back of the chair? Sometimes your posture in the seated position is the cause. I know that’s what causes my neck aches a lot. If so, I suggest one of those small pillows to place between the back of your chair and your neck so you can rest on it.

But if that’s not the case, I have NO clue. Sorry.

Stiff neck remedies… I don’t know about remedies, as in “make it go away or stop happening” but I’ve got plenty in the bag of tricks for pain relief.

Heat will probably work best. If you don’t have an electric heating pad, try a Ziploc baggie containing a wet paper towel and microwave it for about 20 seconds. The “Thermacare” heat wraps sold in drugstores are miraculous, too, and some are shaped specifically to be draped around the neck. They really work and last upwards of 6+ hours. You might also try one of the menthol-based pain relief rubs. The smell is a bit bothersome, but at least it’s fresh and clean. (And those will tell you not to use an outside heat source in conjunction with the cream but I’ve been doing this for ten years and never had a problem.)

Oooh, an expert! Thanks, I’ll try to grab a Thermacare heat wrap later. Earlier, I picked up some icy-hot. I am now walking around the house shirtless, smelling like a drugstore. Potential mates, form an orderly line!
