Knitting.

Mo’ Jaynes and Jayne kits. Today I’m knitting yours, , for the Geekstravaganza.

I ripped out the Pomatomus and started up Vinnland. Turtlegirl76 recommended a pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks, and it did have a stitch pattern very similar to Pomatomus, but it had the disadvantage of being in a book which cost $21.95. I put it on my Amazon Wish List since Christmas isn’t that far off, and went with a free pattern instead. I actually really like the way this looks in this yarn!

While figuring out the math for my father’s Charlie Brown sweater stripe, I realized I’d lost the swatch I’d made several months ago. D’oh! So the next non-Jayne project will be a 4×4″ yellow rectangle. Hold me back.

ponk is using wearwithstyle in a design project for university. I really like what he’s done. The color schemes match my personal preferences more closely than the admittedly kicky and fun but very bright tones that designed when we just had to get something up there because orders were coming in and we needed a site, already.

On an unrelated note, if anyone hears of a product which can be used to zap sleep directly into your brain, please let me know.

What were your difficulties with Pomatomus? I’ve been eyeballing that one as my next sock attempt. (I’m on Queen of Cups from knitty right now)

The twisted knits tighter than I was used to, and after a row or so I found it unpleasant to wedge my needle into them and continue knitting. I’m normally a loose knitter, so it was like going back to that first garter row scarf where you’re clenched up so tightly it’s a wonder you can find room to make a stitch. Queen of Cups looks like it has a fair number of ktbls as well, so if you’re doing fine with that, this might not be an issue for you.

Also – and this is me – I had to stop and reason out which way my wrap was supposed to go for the YOs at the beginning of each needle. The pattern is quite specific that it should be worked on 3 DPNs, so I decided to follow it faithfully rather than use my usual 2 circs. I’m not used to doing YOs at the start of a needle. It wasn’t a problem when I was doing them in the middle. Somewhere in my first few rows, I managed to lose a stitch at the start of a needle, I’m sure because I dropped a YO. Tinking back was a pain, and I finally just said “forget it.”

I think you should use your little Jayne hat guy in your next website design. XD Then again, I like more informal things, they’re always more fun.

As for carts.. Dig around on paypal’s website, I am pretty sure they have some kind of system like that.

On the cart front – I konw LnV use Zen Cart and I have been looking at it for implementation on another friends site. Its decent and free.

OSCommerce came with the site, so that’s what we’re looking at. I’m not opposed to other methods, but this one is, you know, already there.

Except that I don’t know how many to cast on for the sleeve until I know what my gauge is – and I won’t know my gauge until I swatch.

    Great knitting master Tvini!

How hard would it be for you to make a cute knitted halter-neck bra-type top?

Here is a pic. Sorry it’s crappy. Taking pics off the TV is not the best.

I could do that, but honestly, I’m so backed up right now that I wouldn’t want to take on a new project that would require me to reverse-engineer another pattern from TV. It’s fairly time-consuming. I’m sorry.

However, there are some really cute knit and crochet top patterns out there. Searching for “knit bikini pattern” or “crochet bikini pattern” should bring them up. I’ll bet you can find something really cute out there, and make the open edges by adding in a few *yo, k2tog* repeats at the base and outside.

It’s from a commercial that airs on The N all of the time in the later hours. The commercial is quite funny. The girl in the picture, her boyfriend is like a knit-a-holic, and one of her girlfriends is over bitching about how she’s like suffocating from all of the knitting around the house, then the girl takes her sweater off to show the bra and the girlfriend is just like “*gasp* I -know- you had him make me one of those!”

It makes me giggle, and I want the damn thing every time I see it lol.
