air conditioning is good.

Well, my car’s back out of the shop! Somehow when I started walking up to the garage to get it I didn’t realize it was 84 degrees Fahrenheit outside. That’s 29 Celsius to you weirdos in the rest of the world. A mile and a half in long pants was a bad idea.

Aaanyway. The guy said he’d like to charge me for parts and not labor, but if I wasn’t comfortable paying for the part, he’d waive it since he knew we’d been through a lot to get this baby fixed, and he’d rather keep me as a customer. That part, by the way, was an ignition coil, to replace my faulty one. That does help explain why the last two visits turned up a cracked spark plug and a faulty ignition wire. The coil was the underlying cause for those things to go wrong.

I paid for the part, reasoning that if it had been installed in the initial tuneup, I would have had to pay for it anyway. Besides, he did the other work for free. So we didn’t pay the $70 labor, but did pay the $96 parts.

That brings the total up to about $1080 now, but it seems to be running beautifully. Huzzah! I can go nowhere because my budget is shot, but at least I can drive nowhere in style!

Updated http://wearwithstyle.com , adding the Freak Flag. I need to add a few more items as well. I’m thinking about a more comprehensive update, maybe even an overhaul since I also have written up patterns for things like the hat pictured to the right that need web space. Several stores are interested in carrying that pattern, I might as well offer it on the site too. Maybe feed this LJ there? Or at least a regular running Jayne hat update where people can more easily find it, so they can actually see themselves moving up in line? Food for thought.

And speaking of Jayne hats, my supplier inadvertently sent me the wrong color yarn. Yikes! I had to drive 30 minutes up the road to buy a few skeins of orange so that I wouldn’t be completely out until the new order arrives. Hopefully, that’ll be today. No worries, the knitting continues apace!

Yeah I would have paid for the parts too. They obviously have been nice to you about the whole problem. Give the nice guys a leg up, ay? 😀
I spent about that much on my car a little while ago and it was painful at the time but having a smoothly running car is very worth it 🙂
