Motion.

The car, she is back. The mechanic did not charge me for the fix, which was a cracked spark plug. However, it is STILL stuttering, particularly when the air conditioning is on and it is in drive, especially when accelerating from a stop or idling with my foot on the brake. Grr.

My mother has offered a knitting-for-shoes trade, wherein she will supply the money so that I can buy a good pair of shoes and I will knit her something, probably a handbag.

I made her this small purse in 2004, allegedly for her birthday which is in June, but it actually didn’t get delivered until Christmas. Note also lining sewn in inside-out. Linings are not my strong suit.

It also has the button pictured to the right, which I tried like heck to find out about, but I never really learned more – just that I really liked it and it seemed perfect for the bag. As with all gifts I make for people I love, I dithered over it for hours. Fortunately, the staff at The Sewing Bird knows me and is patient.

The yarn is a little darker and more subtle than it looks here, so it’s more of a winter bag, and we’re into warmer weather now. I threatened to eBay the remaining Noro Daria, which was difficult on the needles, but still have it in my stash. It may have been a pain to work with, but it sure turned out pretty, and I’d use it again for the right person. Noro, I wish I could quit you!

My mother has also graciously offered to watch our daughter tomorrow afternoon. The hubby and I get a day together! Yay! So we’re going to get lunch somewhere nice and go see X-Men 3. I haven’t heard the best reviews from our local critic, but who cares? It’s a grownup movie and we’ll be together. Life is good.

Have you tried fuel injector cleaner? What about shaking out the air filter?

    X-Men

I’m not going to spoil anything for you, but I will give you this one tidbit of advice …

Stay through ALL the credits. Just keep your butts parked in those seats until all the credits roll by. You’ll be glad you did.

Ooh, thanks for giving Tvini the advice that I get to mooch. 😀 I love end of credit surprises, they are the best! I was more than a little disappointed that Ice Age 2 didn’t have something, especially after keeping my butt parked there through all the credits.

The Trekking yarn came in yesterday’s mail, thanks again! The candy’s a nice little touch, and I’m taping the little stick figure knitter up at work.

The air filter was supposedly replaced last month as part of its initial maintainence at the start of all this. I honestly haven’t tried to do anything myself, feeling that after shelling out 994 dollars, the burden should fall upon the mechanic.

Well the fuel injector, if you didn’t already know, you just add a bottle of the cleaner to a full tank of gas. It’s supposed to improve performance.

Hey! Unrelatedly, I’m putting the last minute touches on the documention for my knitting panel tomorrow, and had a question. When you sell bamboo needles as an addon for the Jayne hat kit, what does that include? Circular and dpns, or just dpns, or what? My understanding is that with the hat kit and needle add-on, the customer has everything necessary for the hat. Is there anything else they’d need?

    Hey, hon!

The needle add-on includes size 10 1/2 16″ circular, size 10 1/2 DPNs and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. It’s $17 for the needle add-on, which is just barely less than you’d pay in your local yarn store. With the needle add-on, you’ve got everything you need.

Without the add-on, it’s $17 for the basic kit, which is yarn, pattern with tips, pre-made pompom, and little plastic stitch markers. Plus I throw a Blue Sun sticker in for good measure. 🙂

The whole schmeer comes in a padded envelope stamped with Firefly ports of call.

Give me a holler if you need anything else!

    More:

The pattern assumes you can make knit and purl stitches. If people tell me they can’t, I usually refer them to knittinghelp.com. I do include tips on spit-splicing, cable cast-on, and what “without twisting stitches” means when joining your work in the round.

That $17 for the basic kit includes shipping to the US and Canada. Overseas, we add a couple of bucks to cover costs.

Yup, I’ve got a list of skills you need to make one, so it’s all good. The “demo hat” I made for the panel just sold at the charity auction for $75.00, so I’m feeling very virtuous and helpful!
