Dreams and sickness.

I dreamed last night that some horrible version of the Ugg boot had become high fashion, and that we had set up lawn chairs at a local mall to watch celebrities and see who bought some. Later, I went shopping for a formal gown. The Limited had a couple of ‘s bags on display. They cost 959 dollars. They had lots of pockets inside, maybe that accounted for the markup. None of them had octopi or squid, though, so obviously they were far inferior to my bag.

Somehow, I wandered from Belk’s, the department store where I was trying on my formal gown to the backstage of a theater. Robert Preston (of The Music Man fame) was there with a couple of backup singers, also in formal wear, and grabbed me and told me I had to make his introduction. So I did – badly – and then explained he had confused me with someone else. He liked my moxie and asked me if I could sing. The orchestra start our intro, and just as I was about to duet with Robert Preston… my daughter woke me up asking if we had any candy. Sigh.

She’s home sick from school today. She couldn’t sleep through the night from coughing. While she’s doing a little better now, she’s still sniffling and coughing, and I don’t think she’d get much productive work done in that state, epecially considering I finally told her she could get up at 4am after she’d been popping out of bed since 2. Poor baby.

We didn’t go to her occupational therapy appointment yesterday, since the teacher said she’d had a rough morning at school. I know when I’m sick I don’t want to work my upper body strength. Unfortunately, this also means that I missed nearly an hour of uninterrupted knitting time, so I’m still working on Norway’s hat. Fortunately, I build extra time into the estimates I give my clients.

So here we are at home. She’s coughing, eating Special K cereal with no milk (her breakfast of choice), and playing with the million and one pieces of plastic toy stuff we’ve got currently spread out in an even layer across the floor. I’m sniffling a little too, and my throat feels a touch scratchy. I’ve got a headache, too, but that could be stress. The hubby goes out of town on Sunday, so I’m hoping we’ll all be better by then.

Here’s to good health!

Happy Mother’s Day! Here’s your illness!

Jake has been sick two out of four Mother’s days so far. Must be a kid thing.

Ohhh … I wanna dream of singing a duet with Robert Preston! ::swoons:: To bad you didn’t get to finish the dream. And how could he not help but love your moxie? ::grins::

I hope both of you are well in time to enjoy a nice Mama’s Day. ::hugs::

Oh, I can totally relate to setting up lawn chairs and watching for Ugg boots! If I bring my own chair, can I come, too?

Colds are making the rounds, missy. Sorry they caught y’all 🙁
