Media madness

It was a beautiful day today, with a high of 72. I took a nice long walk, then did a little more exercise and bopped around the den to the XML remix of Elvis’s “A Little Less Conversation.” It was good to stretch a little more. Mark this as one week sans coffee, by the way.

I’ve been looking forward to the release of Season 3 of Newsradio, but didn’t get time to get to Borders yesterday (its release date) to pick up a copy. I got by today, and they were sold out. D’oh! Maybe I’ll try to hit Target. This is one of those that I absolutely do not want to be without!

However, all is not lost. I did an online swap of sock yarn for some DVDs, and they arrived today. High quality sock yarn is turning out to be a hot commodity among knitters. I don’t have time to use the yarn, but I do have time to watch TV while I knit Jayne hats, so it’s a great trade with no actual cash changing hands. Now I finally have a copy of Lawrence of Arabia, one of my all-time faves. It’s a great movie, and Peter O’Toole is wonderful in it. And he’s easy on the eyes, of course. Add the three Netflix that arrived today, and we’ll be in videos for a while.

Part of the Lawrence of Arabia shipment was a little tidbit that will go in a package for someone else. I’ve got that little evil grin going that you get when you’re planning a suprise for someone. I might actually break into a snicker.

A lady in West Virginia who saw the original Observer article and ordered a hat based on that called back and asked about getting a kit for one of the scarves I was wearing in the picture. I wrote it up and sent it along. Long term, that’s not a kit that I can make profitable, but I had enough yarn on hand to help her out for a price she could afford. I get the impression there aren’t a lot of high quality yarn shops in her part of West Virginia.

Jayne-wise, I’m into the new year now, working on orders from January 10th. I’m doing slightly over a hat a day now, as I try to get ahead of the line. I had another Charlottean order one. Like every Charlottean who orders, he asked if I know of any Browncoat groups in town. I don’t, though I point people to the fireflync Yahoo group. I actually have met three Morrocroft Borders employees who were avid fans.

Enough people have expressed interest now that maybe I should give folks a holler and say, “hey, I’ll be knitting at X Starbucks on X night, y’all come on down and we can all meet up.” (, your new Starbucks is nice, but tiny.) Sounds like folks want to meet but we just aren’t quite at critical pop-cultural mass to find each other. If there’s not a group organized, well, I guess I can organize one.

Tattooed a player in Dragonrealms last night, and will be looking for her sweetie tonight to do him as well.

Busy day, busy night!

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. An unofficial part of my goal for Lent is to finish all the WIPs I have laying around, so I plan on finishing the second Jayne hat for you this week. Hopefully sometime next week you’ll be able to take a little break from them 🙂

Well, I miss my old store. Shhhh, don’t let anyone know that.
    :p

And I’d love it if some other Browncoats wanted to meetup. God, I could bring my entire apartment full of roomies and a few friends. :p
