Swap?

December 3rd, 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

Anybody want to do a swap? The catch is that while I would be your swapper, your swappee would be my daughter.

She keeps talking about getting a package in the mail. Further discussion shows that she doesn’t really care what’s in it, she just wants a package. She’s not a very demanding child when it comes to mail.

I’d be happy to send Emily a package! Let me know what sorts of things she’s into (I know you said she doesn’t care, but give me a little something to go on!) and any dietary or other restrictions and I’ll make something up this week.

What kind of things would Emily like in her package? 🙂 I’d be happy to send her something; maybe Moira can help make something.

Sure, I’ll take a stab at it. Let me know (or specify to others) some things she might like. Would she like to get stuff that says something about the place I live? (Cheesehead erasers, postcards of the Capitol, something Laura Ingalls Wilder, etc.). I’ve done that before and it’s gone over pretty well.

    She’s 8 or 9, right?

as someone else said, strong likes/dislikes, food preferences, dietary restrictions (no sugar? sugar ok?) pink or black and white with skulls on it? (hey, I got a jillion nieces and they totally run the gammut…)

Ooh yes! I’m slow to send packages, but once I do it should only take a day or so to get to you, since I’m in the Triangle.

I’ll swap. I’ll be Christmas shopping this weekend, I can pick up some Florida-type stuff for her if you think she might like it.

I can make her some soap. I have snowflake, pine tree, and star molds. I don’t need to receive something in return. My husband gets jealous of all my packages too.

Aw, thanks! I posted again so you can see. Drop me a line at heather at jaynehat dot com and give me your address, as well as what kinds of things you like. 🙂

That’s really sweet! But… I have no idea who you are. We’ve probably met online somewhere and I just don’t remember, so I’m sorry if I’m just forgetting something obvious.

I’m sorry, but I’m sure you can understand why I’d be nervous about asking a stranger to send things in the mail to my child. I really appreciate the thought, though!

Aw, that’s sweet! I know for a fact she’d like that. She enjoyed the bear soap that I got in a swap a while back, to the point that I had to keep an eye on her or else she’d be swimming in soapy soupy bathwater.

Heh. All righty. Thanks! I’ve still got the home office’s address. You know, even if she just gets an envelope with some stickers in it or something, she’ll be happy.

Swell! I’m not actually telling her that anything’s coming anyway, so she won’t be expecting anything and it’ll be a surprise. I know we all get busy at the holidays and sometimes things fall through the cracks. 🙂

I think she would, thanks! Drop me a line at heather at jaynehat dot com with your address. I went searching for it in my e-mail, and found your work address and the address of other person with your exact same name who ordered a kit in 2005. Small world, eh?

I’ve already got so many people sending stuff, I wouldn’t want to impose. I know it’s busy at the holidays, too. But if you decide you want to, I won’t stop you! If you do, drop me a line at heather at jaynehat dot com with your address and the kinds of things that YOU like!

I love shopping for kids. Maybe I can find some fun “SF” stuff in the city this weekend when I go…

Oh, that makes so much sense. Now that I think about it, it would have been pretty weird to get a stranger to send things.

In any case, I hope we do meet someday and perhaps then I can send Emily a New York package.
