Pics of personal awesomeness.

#1:
Zachary Quinto from Heroes signed to play Spock in 2008 Trek movie. Brilliant casting! What are the odds of finding an actor who looks like a young Nimoy, has rising popularity outside of Trek, AND has the intensity and acting chops to pull it off? Plus, although he’s apparently a little weird, he’s drop-dead gorgeous, so that’s a plus. Catch me, I’m falling into a nerd faint!

#2:
And speaking of a nerd faint, catch me, ’cause I’m falling again! The special edition of Serenity is out! MUSTHAVENOWA09@$*#)$#) AAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Okay, I’m better.

#3:
Pepperidge Farms makes tiny little Milano cookies? Argh! I told myself in the store that each one is only 26 calories, but c’mon. How often am I going to eat just one? Still, I haven’t had a Milano cookie in ages, and they’re fantastic, so this counts as good.

#4:
Before and After
Slowly, slowly, the freak cat is slimming down. She doesn’t grunt as she goes up and down stairs anymore, although her car alarm meow is as annoying as ever.

#5:
Crafty Emily! She never wants to do crafty things, things you have to do with your hands, but I persist in offering. While out getting school uniforms, I ran across Clothespin Cuties by Chicken Socks (a division of Klutz). It was a little book with three clothespin-type forms with faces painted on them, some yarn, sequins, and glue. She didn’t want to do it the first day, but the second day she asked to. We made two, then she decided to save the mermaid for day 3. I helped with the glue. She says that later, she’s going to dress them up for the ball. They’ve been singing Disney princess songs a lot. I’m just happy that she’s voluntarily using those fine motor skills, and that she’s doing something crafty!

#6:
Age appropriate books! Last week at our weekly stitch session at Books-A-Million I bought a copy of Miss Daisy is Crazy and insisted that we read a chapter (at least) a day, as opposed to reading entire books which were much shorter and made for younger kids. A chapter is only about 8 pages long, but it’s appropriate to her age level, and it’s a start. Last night she asked me if I could get more books in the series. I’m going to books-A-Million tonight, so can do! The math may not be going so hot, but I’m workin’ the reading, baby! Yay!

The NOT SO AWESOME:
#7:
I stayed up too late knitting a couple of nights ago and made a mistake on my socks without realizing it until much later. D’oh! Maybe you can’t see it, but I sure can, so now I’m tinking back. On the up side, I finished the back of Emily’s sweater and am ahead on the Jayne hat queue now. People who got a one month estimate three weeks ago are up in line. That’s always a good feeling. 🙂

So that’s six awesome, one not so awesome. Good ratio! Tonight, weather permitting, my daughter and I will be going over to my father’s condo to swim in his pool, along with my mom. I’ll be late for the stitch session tonight, but it’s a small price to pay for one final summer hurrah. Chalk up one more for the “awesome” column.

Hope your day is filled with awesomeness!

I’ll say there’s a mistake on those socks. There’s a big needle right through them. How are you supposed to wear them like that?

It’s great, isn’t it? So soft, too! It’s Regia Bamboo. At a 64 stitch circumference, I got a single sock of good length out of about 2/3 to 3/4 of a skein.

Very awesome indeed. I must have Serenity myself. Have you gotten it yet? I’m torn between ordering it online and waiting, or going out this weekend for instant gratification. I think the instant gratification will win.

I haven’t gotten it yet. I will point out that Best Buy is doing a promotion whereby you get a copy of a Serenity comic book (I think it’s a new cover on #1 of the comic that was already released) with your DVD, so that might be enough to push you toward instant gratification. 🙂

Hahahahaha love the black bars on the cat.

Did you just do a knit row across the ribbing there? I’d just drop down the ones that are supposed to be purls and fix ’em.
