And now for something completely different.

Every year so far, I’ve made something for my daughter’s teacher’s children. In kindergarten, it was this cotton sweater. In first grade, it was this baby pullover. Unfortunately, this year, my daughter’s teacher has three daughters, ages 14, 16, and 18. I love this teacher, but I am not making three full-sized sweaters.

Instead, I’m going with earrings. Four sets, because Emily said that the teacher needed one too, which seems only fair. Because I’m a stickler for high-quality materials, the beads and findings are sterling silver and the colored bits are Swarovski crystal. I’ll let the teacher decide who’s going to get what.

I’m pleased with how these turned out. I’ve got more dragonfly wings and Swarovski in my stash, so maybe I should make some for sale. Hm.

Good question! The below pic is, as it says, actual size.

It now occurs to me that maybe they’re too dangly for a 14-year-old. I don’t know what the kids these days are wearing. I guess I’ll send them along tomorrow with a note that says I can re-make one into a necklace if she’d prefer.

I personally LOVE dangly. I really don’t think they length would be a problem.

    Re: If

$10. These are VASTLY less labor-intensive than hats.

Considering the day you’ve had, I’d be glad to make you a pair and send them as a gift. You sould like you could use a lift. 🙂

    Re: If

Oh that’s so sweet a thought! You don’t have to do that, really. I’d be more than happy to pay you for your work–I like being able to let craftspeople know I appreciate their skills. I’d love a pair in green ( I like darker greens if you have it) and another pair in pink (any shade is fine) for my best friend’s birthday in October.

    Re: If

How about we split the difference? No charge for yours, but I’ll let you buy a pair for your friend, if you decide to go that route.
