Super easy, super quick. Afterthought heels are officially my new favorite thing for self-striping yarn. I could actually knock the second one out this weekend. Yay!

I’ll post details after I have an actual finished pair. 🙂

Very nice! Someday I want to knit socks. My first 3 attempts have failed. 🙁

For an afterthought heel, the rest of the sock has to be a straight tube, right? With top-down flap heels I usually have to extend the gusset decreases so the foot’s smaller around than the leg was.

Yep, it’s a straight tube. If you need a narrower foot, then I suppose that at the point where you put in your waste yarn to indicate where your heel’s going to go, you could also decrease a few stitches. Even though it’s a straight tube, you know where the foot will be.

Of course, this is all in theory. 🙂
