Operation Yarn Diet has failed.

I went into the yarn store to get a row counter, since I keep losing mine (this makes three, thank goodness they’re cheap) and I made the mistake of browsing the discount bin.

They had two balls of Crystal Palace Deco-Ribbon in color 117, blue and white on sale for 20% off.

I could probably have resisted if I didn’t already know about a handbag pattern that called for exactly two balls of Deco-Ribbon. So then I was able to visualize exactly what I could make with it (assuming I didn’t go the scarf route and pair it with something flashy). Next thing you know, I’m at the counter being rung up.

Moral of the story: If you’re a yarn addict, just don’t go into the yarn store, idjit! Jeez!

I’m going to get back on the horse and not buy any MORE yarn until May 1st. Althoug, since that’s only three days away, I can’t imagine it’ll be too hard. Anyway, the store doesn’t take returns of discount merchandise, and I wouldn’t anyway! Nyah!

If it makes you feel any better, I’m averaging about $30-50 a trip when I visit a yarn store, which is approximately once a week. And I completely lack the willpower to NOT buy stuff.

Meanwhile, I’ve figured out how to make Gameboy cozy-carries, starting with one for my boyfriend. Definitely not grandma-knitting.

Y’know, I have to admit, when I get to the gaming store and get around the dice and miniatures, it isn’t a cheap visit either. Tee hee hee.

If you find yourself buying a lot of needles, you might look at Denise Interchangeable needles. I broke down and got a set, and I love them! At least, I did until I accidentally left the 17 1/2 inch cable and #11 tips at a rest stop somewhere between her and my sister-in-law’s house, four hours away. Greeeeeat.
