Musical goodness.
“Call Me Madam” was very good and may go into my DVD collection soon.
For those of you who love musicals – all two or so of you – which ones do you own? Which ones would you like to? Which songs do you put on in the background and dance or sing to while you’re going about your life?

7B47B is just a weird-ass movie. All they do is dance and fight.

This whole conversation made me go onto iTunes and try to find “I Won’t Grow Up” from the Broadway musical version of Peter Pan. Sadly, it wasn’t there.
“On the Street Where You Live” is fabulous. When I had my mammogram (turned out fine) last Spring, I came out of the hospital into a big parking deck. The enclosed concrete area that served as a waiting area had fantastic acoustics, and that was one of the songs that I belted out up on the 4th floor of the parking deck. I have no idea what people on the other three floors thought.

OTSWYL is just perfectly in my range, regardless of how flexible I’m feeling. It’s excellent for a karaoke warmup, especially when nobody else wants to sing until they’re tipsy 🙂
I can’t remember if I have “I Won’t Grow Up” or not, but my mom’s got the whole album of the Mary Martin version. We could work out a deal, ya know.

Yep, I’ve got to file “Once More With Feeling” under guilty pleasures. So geeky, but so enjoyable!

I just bought Rent! I thought it was really good, although the music drives several people in my house crazy. =) I also have soundtracks to Wicked, Chicago, and a couple others. It is music for when I’m feeling silly-happy or just silly.

I ran out of room in my 100-disc CD changer so I couldn’t keep putting my musical CDs in it. It made me sad, but kind of happy that I’d broken the 100 disc mark.
Movie musicals can be fairly hit-or-miss sometimes. I’m generally not a big fan of the Pop-musicals, like Elvis or the Beatles’ movies, though as I mentioned the new Outkast movie-musical intrigues me. The recent revival of the movie musical in general has gotten me quite excited though. I’m interested to see how Dreamgirls turns out… among other things.
I could probably keep rambling, but I’ll leave it at that.

Do you really CARE what they thought? I think it’d be mahvelous, dahling, to hear something like that echoing through a big ol’ drafty-ass parking deck! Err…you can carry something resembling a tune, no?

Heh. You know me; I didn’t care what anybody thought. And I’m not half bad. Good musical genes run on both sides of the family. Nonetheless, after the third selection or so, I decided it was time to hang it up, just in case. 🙂

I mostly just love Robert Westenberg. Which is probably why I listen to “Into the Woods” a lot. That man needs to record more, dammit. 🙂

::Grumble:: I can’t find my recording of it either. I probably just need to suck it up and buy a new one.

I’m torn between the two versions. Musically, I prefer the London version. I like the way the story ends on the Broadway version better, though.
If I’m going to listen to one or the other, it’s usually the London recording.

I’ve never seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I even own a copy of it on VHS, courtesy of the TV station where I used to work (we got gifts all the time) and I’ve still never seen it. It’s in a sack of similar kids’ movies to give away that’s sitting by the door. Disney was very good to our Kids’ Club back then.

Heh. Well, I do live for the deal. Right now I’m trying to figure out what I’ve got that I might be able to trade for one ball of Rowan Calmer in green on the knitting swap channels. Three good yarn stores within five miles of me, and nobody carries Calmer. Where’s the justice in that?
