SQUEE!
The girl making the matching needle case for my octo-purse wrote back with pics. TOO CUTE!
Girlontherocks made this for me! Look at my octo-case! And she used the remnants of the stripey fabric to make a matching pouch, which she offered to me for a very reasonable price. Sold!
I can’t wait to get my grubby little mitts on this. Yay!
I’ve heard LJ folks and budget-conscious types sing the praises of Tuesday Morning stores for a while. After hearing that they might have inexpensive interlocking foam blocks which could be used as a blocking board for knitting, I decided to check them out.
They didn’t have the foam squares, but they still managed to pull me in. I could NOT leave without these two sets of figurines, on sale for about $5 each.

I couldn’t just get one, I had to get both. Otherwise you’ve only got the Mahna Mahna guy and not the Doo do doo doot! gals. Tragedy! And yes, I do know that the Doo do doo doot! gals are called “Snowths.” Now I just need to clear a space off on my desk for it. Currently, my computer workspace is the horizontal equivalent of Fibber McGee’s closet.
Also picked up some new sheets, since I could no longer re-stitch the seams on the poor-quality ones that we had slept on the previous night. 350 thread-count cotton sateen sheets for about $50. Extravagant, sure, but a good bargain for the quality. The down side? Even after washing them twice before putting them on the bed, they’re LOUD. One of us will go to roll over, and it sounds like someone’s got their lavalier mike attached poorly to their shirt.
For the non-AV geeks, it’s like we’re sleeping in a bowl of Rice Krispies. Oh well. Maybe they’ll quiet down with time, because there’s no returning them now!
On the needles: Devon UK. Next up: Hull UK, then Massachusetts.

Huh. Well, now I think I like the new one (right) better than the hybrid one (left).
Also, it’s another little lesson in how blocking can help a garment. They’re a tad looser now, so less striping is lost in the roll of the brim.
Definitely bedtime.
Adversity becomes opportunity!
Hm. I’m starting to sound like a motivational poster. Time to go to bed.
Ah, but speaking of motivational office crap, before I go to bed, a post from
Heh. Co-workers are funny.
Remember my wacky adventures with Noro Silk Garden colorway 87? How they mysteriously changed their formulation and the new one looked nothing like the old one?
New hat.
Well, yarn I ordered in an older dye lot arrived today. Instead of E2 (current) it was E. It wasn’t the B that somebody had in an old picture (but wasn’t offering), but it was described as having pinks and yellows by the seller.
Apparently, when old 87 and new 87 love each other very much, they get together and make hybrid 87.

Again, I say “WTF??” It’s got some components of the old, and some of the new. Now Noro is just screwing with me! Bastards! Bastardy bastard bastards! ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!
I’ve written to the client, with a much more level-headed tone than above, of course. She’s happy to get a hat, regardless of which colorway it is. It’s just… Man! It burns my britches! Note to self. Change rainbow beanie pic on site. BURN NORO HQ.
Time to turn in, but I haven’t updated in a couple of days, so the high points!
