Not quite James Bond
Last night at about 9pm, we heard Em talking up a storm in her room. My husband snuck back to listen to what she was saying, to be sure she wasn’t upset or crying.
He heard Em gleefully exclaim, “Ryan has carrot sticks up his nose!” We recognized this at once. It was from Mrs. Roopy Is Loopy by Dan Gutman, one of the My Weird School books that she keeps on her bedside table. She also has a little flashlight there that she uses when she’s pretending that all her dolls are lost under the blankets.
She was sneaky enough to get out the flashlight and read in bed with the lights off, but not sneaky enough to read quietly to herself. I have no room to talk – I used to do the same thing, but silently. What a great age she’s at.

Since I started making Jayne hats, I have met some of the nicest people in the world. And one of them is

WIN!
I’ll post later, but the party was a resounding success. Those who were around for the kindergarten party fiasco will be pleased to hear that everybody came, even those who didn’t RSVP, and a good time was had by all.

Emily has discovered lolcats. I might have helped. Her favorite:

She thinks it’s very weird that the spelling isn’t correct, but now she’s galloping through the house going “NOM NOM NOM!” That’s mommy’s little netizen.
victory!
We have gotten one RSVP for Em’s birthday party. One of her friends called tonight to speak with her (which lasted approximately two seconds – we have to work on phone skills) and said that she’s coming. Em is skipping around the house, very excited, and is also thinking about what she would say in a phone conversation next time.
That’s at least one friend at the party! YAY!!!!!!
Make hay while the sun shines…

…or when it snows, in this case. Opportunities to work on the “Frosty Fun” Girl Scout badge are few down here in the South, so this week, we seized the moment. Here’s Em posing in her winter gear to show off what you should wear when it’s cold outside. Wendy from Alaska is no doubt laughing at our definition of “cold weather gear” but we’ll see who’s laughing when we’re out tailgating in cutoffs and t-shirts at Christmas. (I kid, Wendy!)
Here’s a closeup, just to prove that there is a child under all those layers. And yes, I did knit that scarf. It’s super easy and you can do it too.
