That’s entertainment!

Had a wonderful time while the daughter was with her grandparents, and she had a great time too. She got to walk the dog, go to the splash pad (water park), watch a bunch of people go up in an airplane and parachute out, water the garden, and generally get all tuckered out. She volunteered several times that she had a really fun time. We’ll have to find time to do it again soon.

As for us, Monty Python and the Holy Grail was a blast! We went by Moe’s Southwestern Grill (first time there – verdict: cheap and good) and grabbed some grub, then got up to the theater early. We were glad we’d gotten our tickets before dinner – with 25 minutes left to go, there was a line out the door. So we got in line with the rest of the geeks and went in.

I will say this: if something had happened and the rest of the human race were destroyed, leaving only the inhabitants of that theater, civilization would emerge much fatter, whiter, and nerdier than it was before. But it was a good crowd. Parents brought their older kids, some people brought in beers (the theater serves alcohol) and everybody was feeling good. We played “spot the nerd-dom” as people came in. They were well-represented. SCA, D&D, gamers, musicians, computer geeks, really all the major subsets were out in force. It was an exuberant crowd, and I’m pretty sure my husband laughed the loudest.

Yesterday we picked up the kiddo, who was in high spirits. As always, she looked so big when we got her. That girl just keeps growing. She pitched a little fit when it was time to go to bed, as she was way past tired, but she was out like a light the minute her head hit the pillow. Afteward, the hubby and I watched Logan’s Run, which we had picked up for $6 on DVD at Manifest Disc the day before. I love this movie with all of its cheese, partly because I had a crush on Michael York as a girl, but the film is definitely a product of its time. Interestingly, since I’d only seen it on network TV before, I didn’t realize there was gratuituous nudity in it. Literally, “we’d better get out of these wet clothes” gratuituous, when they’re back in their wet clothes five minutes later.

My mom’s socks are at a turning point. Literally! I turned the heel last night while Logan was chasing runners, and tried it on Mom this morning. The verdict? Another row before turning. No problem, I have a lifeline in, so I’ve ripped back and will give it another go. Now I guess I should decide whether to do something fancy on the leg. I’d been thinking just a regular k2p2 rib. Good enough to keep them from falling down, even if it’s not that ornate. Hm.

Speaking of kids and knitting, I whipped up this chart for something. Note: if you have recently had a baby and think I may be knitting something for you, don’t click here. I know I shouldn’t post, but I’m just so proud of it, imperfections and all. Made with help from Microrevolt and lots of Photoshop lovin’. When I’ll find time to actually do what I want to with it, I don’t know. That project may yet be abandoned as too ambitious.

At the prompting of a post from , I joined last.fm. My daughter’s around a lot, so I don’t get to play my music as often as I’d like, but it’s interesting to see what people are doing. I’m going to go out on a limb, though, and say that the average user is probably half my age. Unsurprisingly, my musical tastes don’t seem to be in sync with the MySpace crowd. At any rate, I’m at http://www.last.fm/user/Tvini/ in case you’re also a user of that site.

I’ve signed up and been accepted to be a beta tester for the Marine Mania expansion pack of Zoo Tycoon 2. I enjoy the game, but after playing the original with that expansion pack you could really feel what ZT2 was missing. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes, but with nondisclosure being what it is, I probably won’t be able to share anything with anyone.

I’m keeping today and tomorrow low-key while the daughter comes back down off of Nanamania ’06. Tomorrow, maybe the library. We’ll see. Only other plans: do a DR thing that I need to do (GM Danalae threatened me with bodily violence if I did not) and put some yarn up on eBay. This is some, but there’s plenty more. Everything is half-off at Crazy Tvini’s!

Excellent! I’m so glad it was a good experience! It’s always fun meeting new people and hitting it off, isn’t it?

I’m going to call the theater and suggest “Young Frankenstein” to them. Now that would draw a crowd and look great on the big screen!
