Ah, the life of adults.

I dropped the kiddo off this morning at 10am and drove back to Charlotte. Then I caught the 1:30 of An Inconvenient Truth by myself, since a) the hubby was still at work, and b) he is more conservative than I and has no desire to see it. I’d rather see it solo than have to listen to him sigh significantly and shift in his chair. I’m glad I went – excellent movie! There was only one theater left in Charlotte showing it, Ballantyne Village. I tried not to think about the irony of having to drive 9 miles alone in my car to go see a movie about reducing fossil fuel emissions.

While at the theater, I noticed flyers for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, playing Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday day. So we’re going to catch the 10pm of Holy Grail tomorrow night. I haven’t seen it on the big screen since a midnight showing the first week of my freshman year of college. Incidentally, that was also the first time I saw it, and I laughed my keister off. It was a good introduction to Monty Python, and lo, the Python nerdiness overtook me quickly.

It looks like a whole summer series at the theater. , they had the Goonies going in late June. Hope you caught it! Or maybe that wasn’t you going on about it, maybe it April from the knitting group. Aaanyhow, next weekend is Raiders of the Lost Ark. I might see if we can swing that one, too, but the earliest nighttime show is at 10pm. Yikes. Maybe Sunday in the daytime.

Tonight we caught Superman Returns, which we both enjoyed. I’d like to see it again – I’m one of those people who likes to see the same movie more than once. No doubt that’s where my daughter gets it.

It was about 10pm when we got out. We headed over to Sir Edmond Halley’s for a late dinner. After about five minutes, I had to return my purse to the car because I was afraid the cigarette smoke would stink up the knitting projects I was carrying. There were three people at the table next to us. One of them, in the hour and a half we were there, smoked five cigarettes. His companion smoked four. If those things are coffin nails, I think his coffin’s about ready. I had a couple of small goat cheese fritters, a half a salad, and 3/4 of a flourless chocolate cake. I’m pretty sure those all cancel each other out. Who cares? It was all delicious.

Tomorrow, with luck, I sleep in! I need to mail off three hats and a kit, and then check out the sale at The Sewing Bird. They have now gone to 40% off everything, and are also selling off store fixtures and shop samples. The end of their storefront cannot be far behind. Would that my wallet were fatter, but it’ll still be fun to window shop. Hey, I’m just happy that Jayne hat money paid for all of tonight’s events. What am I working for if I can’t take my man out now and then?

Having a great time, wish you were here! 🙂

Oh shit, that just reminded me that Goonies is playing at our Movies in the Park this month. Is this the second Friday? I think it is. Whew, we haven’t missed it. Looks like Morgan’s packing us a picnic dinner.

Sounds like you’re having a fabulous time. Enjoy Holy Grail on the big screen!

I’m so jealous. I can’t remember the last time Troy and I had a night out alone. Our tenth anniversary is in three weeks. I had BETTER get a night like that then. 😀

No, I don’t think that was me, but I’m a big Goonies fan anyway! I missed it. I didn’t know about this summer movie series. I’ll have to check it out. And damn you for mentioning the Sewing Bird! I just figured my finances for the next 2 weeks and somehow I have to live on $48 for the next 13 days. Thank God for credit cards. Though that’s catching up with me too. Oy.

All I know is that I was over there today and people were buying all the good stuff. The lady behind me bought a crapload of Karabella Aurora 8, Silk Garden, and some folks behind me were snagging the Fiesta and the Mountain Colors. Piper was in front of me and got a couple of kits with some great yarn in them.

I got a few needles and a couple of things for my knitting niece, but forebore from buying for myself. I’m trying to be good and remind myself that I’ve got plenty of yarn, I don’t need more.

But the remaining Aurora 8 and the Louet Gems superwash is calling my name…
