Brief updatelets!

Dr. Horrible part two comes out tomorrow. Or tonight at midnight, if you’ve got a late night planned.

Someone in the Charlotte Browncoats pointed this out – Dr. Horrible has a Serenity model hanging in his window. Heh.

The Charlotte Browncoats are having a picnic Saturday which happens to be taking place at the park directly across the street from my house, so I reckon we’ll go to that. There’s a nice playground for Em.

Em’s in “dramatic action” camp this week. Monday, they tried on costumes and did a dance. Tuesday, they made masks and puppets. Yesterday, they sang a selection from High School Musical. Em’s solo: saying “Ay, que fabulosa!” She seems to be having a good time. That’s good, because if I’d realized how far away from our house this camp was when we signed up, I might have had second thoughts. Between camp and errands, I’m driving a good 40 miles a day. Al Gore’s going to slash my tires.

Enjoying watching a lot of Clean House, and also watching Carrier, which I recommend.

Just got done reading The Last Colony by John Scalzi. He’s a very Heinleinian writer. “Updatelets” and “Heinleinian” – I’m making up words left and right here tonight! That’s what happens when I drink pomegranate tea at night instead of coffee.

I made my whopping one pound goal today and set another goal. Still doing Couch to 5k faithfully. It’ll be much harder to do next week when there are no camps and I don’t have any time in the morning to myself. By the time my husband’s home, it’s broiling hot and I just don’t have it in me. I guess I can always do wii running.

Okay, bedtime.

Dr. Horrible is possibly, the greatest thing ever. It’s exactly the kind of humour I love, and hey! Neil Patrick Harris AND Nathan Fillion (as a full-of-himself hero)? Yes. Yes please.

It’s like… The Buffy musical episode, but better. Joss is a good musical guy.

What did you think of Dr Horrible?

I had a hard time watching it in the streaming phase – very jerky and it hurt my eyes.

I wanted to dl it via iTunes but I don’t know if I want to pay for it before I’ve seen the whole thing.

Fillion was AMAZING AND HILARIOUS AND I LOVE HIM. And I don’t actually LIKE Fillion that much. 😉

Fillion does do cocky and smarmy really well, doesn’t he?

iTunes is releasing the webisodes a bit at a time, just like the free version, so I’ve only seen parts I and II. I’ve really enjoyed the two I’ve seen so far. There were definitely plot developments in part II.

Best news so far, from USA Today’s talk with Melissa Tancharoen, who is Zack Whedon’s fiancee and part of the creative team.

‘With a revenue sharing agreement with iTunes for all three and business opportunities opening up, Whedon is now considering further webisodes, as well as Broadway and film.

“We love the characters. We’ve done some cool things, and we think there’s more to do with them,” says Tancharoen.’

I’d be really interested to see what Whedon would do if he didn’t have The Network leaning over him with an axe.

I mean, I’m not a fan of Firefly, but I think that’s primarily because the show wasn’t given even half a chance by the network. I wasn’t a fan of Buffy during its first season, either – it takes a bit for shows to really settle in.

Fillion, though. Gosh, he’s lovely in this role. 🙂

I’m happy to hear that someone else likes Carrier. I’ve been enjoying it.

Are you still looking for a grassy hill for bike riding?

    Re: from Rachel

In fact, we are. We’re going this Saturday to the Greenway, but it’s not hilly at all. Great for running on, not so great for picking up steam on a bike.
