Yay!

The Raleigh screening is a couple of weeks away and they’re already more than half sold out, I believe, so I’m glad Charlotte’s getting their own screening too. Needless to say, I’m donating a Jayne hat. I’m also going to come early and help with ticket taking, prize registration, whatever needs doing. Equality Now is a good cause, and Serenity’s a good movie, so I’m glad to help!

I’m knitting like the wind this week, as it’s the last week before my daughter is out of school. After that, it gets harder to crank ’em out as quickly as I’d like. U.S. orders are down some because it’s hot as blazes out, although convention season is upon us and so that generates some orders. However, it’s plenty cold in Australia, so orders are continuing strong from down there. Also, I’m pretty sure the Aussies are totally making up their place names. I thought names like “Ottery St. Mary” and “Wokingham” in the UK were comedy gold, but the Australians are pulling ahead in this area. Sadly, I can’t tell you any place names, because the orders are still pending.

Of course, I live in a country with towns like “Dry Prong” “Tightwad” and “Frog Level” so maybe I shouldn’t be casting stones here.

<img decoding="async" src="http://www.tvini.org/images/hotwaterbottle/hotwatercozydone.jpg" / height="225" border="3" hspace="5" align="left">
Speaking of my daughter and knitting, the hot water bottle cozy was finished a few days ago. She seems to like it. It did get peed on the first night, but since then, no accidents. That’s good, since it’s made out of Cascade 220 and I’d like to avoid washing it constantly, lest it felt up. I didn’t stitch up the bottom straight, which accounts for the cable kind of meandering to the right. However, I didn’t feel compelled to match it all up perfectly, since it’s really only going to be used in the bed of a seven year old. It’s not like she’s taking it to the opera. She’ll appreciate it regardless.

<img decoding="async" src="http://www.tvini.org/images/misc/persimmongone.jpg" / border="3" hspace="3" align="right" height="225">
The persimmon tree I waxed eloquent about a while back finally went the way of all flesh today. I went to pick my daughter up and it was there. I came back and it was in chunks on the ground, being fed into a wood chipper. Sniff. I’m gonna miss that tree, and I expect a fair amount of wildlife in the woods will too.

And lastly, My daughter has broadened her palette to include whipped cream. Specifically, the whipped cream on top of the frappuccino I got today.

<img decoding="async" src="http://www.booboomonkey.com/tvini/Boomochasmall.jpg" / border="3" hspace="3" vspace="3">
Someone’s been eating my porridge, and she’s still here!

Like mother, like daughter.

Hats up for California, New York, and Oregon.
