Cuuuute, but not super-practical for washing.

A wool/cashmere blend. Not super-practical, again, but man is it soft. I’ve got some nice blues, too.

Machine washable wool, but sized for 12 months. Difficult to size down unless I re-write it, which I guess I could do. I’ve actually written a pattern booklet for this one up, and some local yarn shops have expressed an interest in carrying it. I need to get off my keister and take a better picture of it for that purpose.

Swirly madness for the standard umbilical cord hat. I do have some blue/brown/green Noro Lily, which is what this yarn is.

Superwash wool. I’ve got a lot of this leftover from <lj user=panzermama>‘s baby socks, but it but maybe too “girly.” I’m not sure how traditional this teacher is. By the way, that was a super-sweet thank you note that <lj user=panzermama> sent. 🙂

Cotton strawberry hat. Some things are just classic.

I don’t think she’d think it was Satanic, but you never know.

Rawr! I could probably size it down, but might be bumpy on the back for a baby who can’t hold their head up.

Or do I bite the bullet and do what I probably should do for this woman who teaches my daughter for six hours a day and make a sweater? I know I’ve got Jill Eaton’s Minnies floating around here somewhere, and I’ve got this fantastic Crystal Palace cotton chenille, hand-dyed by the lovely and talented <lj user=houseofdanie>.

These aren’t the only options. I can still wing something, it’s just that time is short. And I am not making a baby blanket.

I dunno. I just need to be sure I’m thinking of how the end result will feel to the recipient, and not just of what seems cool for me to knit. I’m paralyzed with indecision!

Thoughts?

My kid’s first grade teacher is going out on leave in early April.
