{"id":554,"date":"2005-05-31T12:04:00","date_gmt":"2005-05-31T16:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kissmyknits.com\/?p=554"},"modified":"2005-05-31T12:04:00","modified_gmt":"2005-05-31T16:04:00","slug":"felted-swatch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kissmyknits.com\/?p=554","title":{"rendered":"Felted swatch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because we get a fair number of questions about how much an item felts vertically and horizontally, I thought I&#8217;d post up a swatch that I did this morning preparatory to doing a felted bag for my kid&#8217;s kindergarten teacher.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brownsheep.com\/lp.html\">Lamb&#8217;s Pride worsted<\/a> in Lotus Pink and Amethyst, knitted on #11 needles, 30 rows and 20 stitches.  In the middle, it is paired with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berroco.com\/yarns\/sizzle.html\">Berroco Sizzle<\/a> and taken in by a stitch on each side, since adding the novelty yarn causes the swatch to bow out when it&#8217;s done.  So for the 10 stitches in the middle with the Sizzle, it&#8217;s only 18 stitches wide.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tvini.org\/images\/pinkswatchunfelted.jpg\" alt=\"Unfelted swatch\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the below felted swatch, there is no bulge in the novelty yarn part because it has been accounted for by knitting fewer stitches.
