You can help.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I help, but she does most of it.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Em: <\/b> What else?<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Me: <\/b> You could do the laundry.<\/p>\n<p>I guide her through the laundry.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Em:<\/b>  What else?<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Me: <\/b> You can use the sweeper in the den.<\/p>\n<p>I give her tips on the sweeper.  We get to a &#8220;good enough&#8221; place and I show her how to empty it.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Em:<\/b>  Okay.  You should go make the chart now.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>And so I do, adding her regular chores, like &#8220;put away clothes&#8221; and a field called &#8220;bonus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Em:<\/b>  What&#8217;s that?<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Me:<\/b>  I want you to look around the house and find something that you think needs to be done, and then do it.<\/p>\n<p>She settles on feeding the cat.<br \/>\nWe mark off all her chores for the day.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Em:<\/b>  And when all my chores are marked off, you can give me a toy.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Me:<\/b>  &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>How did I not see that coming?<br \/>\n<br clear=all><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Em: You should make me a chore chart.
