A newer version of OSX and a copy of Photoshop mean that I can edit photos again. However, I don’t have my network settings configured, so I can’t put them on our server, which means I can’t post them.

Had my supposedly yearly “woman-type” exam yesterday. It had actually been about three years. Last time I had one, I went to a new office and really didn’t like the doctor, so this time I went to the office that took care of me while I was pregnant. Unfortunately, that was seven years ago, and they’ve moved since then, so I was kind of in this returning patient/new patient limbo. My appointment was for eleven, but I didn’t actually get in to the examining room until after noon.

After disrobing, it was another fifteen minutes before anyone came back. That’s a long time to be sitting in a room wearing nothing but a sheet and a paper vest. Fortunately, I brought a book. A book I bled on before I realized it, because my finger prick for iron testing hadn’t completely clotted when I took off the cotton ball, and I opted not to march out into the hall and get a band-aid while wrapped in a bedsheet toga. Although I’ll bet I would have gotten faster service if I’d wandered the halls all “Friends, Romans, Countrymen.” The examiner was a lovely lady, but let me tell you what I didn’t want to hear: “I’ve done so many of these today that I’m getting a little silly!” Get crazy on your own time, not when I’m riding tall in the saddle, thanks.

Total time from arrival to leaving the parking deck: an hour and forty five minutes. By the way, I’m in fine health. Perhaps next time they’ll be able to tell me that in under an hour.

We had a lovely night of trick-or-treating. Sadly, though, we got exactly zero visitors to our house. The hubby and I were both out with Emily, so when we saw someone getting near our house, the hubby was straining at the leash to run back and get them some candy. Somehow the image of a 6’3″ man running at a bunch of kids in the dark on Halloween didn’t seem to say “I want my children to take candy from this person” so we had to keep going and we missed the lone group we would have gotten. On the up side, so few trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood meant that everyone who had candy had LOTS of candy to give us. Emily came home with an orange plastic pumpkin overflowing with corn syrupy goodness. We let her have two pieces last night. She’s looking forward to having more today.

I went to bed at about 9pm last night after continually nodding off in front of the TV. I woke up early, singing and made McCann’s Irish Oatmeal for breakfast. Steel-cut oats = delicious! It’s good to have energy, since eight Jayne hat kit orders were placed in the last couple of days. Today is devoted to winding off yarn and packing things up.

Two more huge cones of yellow arrived. Unfortunately, the mill has upped their prices. D’oh! I’ll need to look and see whether I have to up kit and hat prices for 2007. I’d hate to do that, so we’ll see if I can crunch numbers in a favorable way. The photo to the left is from February – I just had to put something up! Must… have… pics!

For some reason, there’s no Brownie meeting tonight, which means I should be able to get Emily to bed on time, which means she can be happy and I can hit the weekly stitch night and still get home in time for LOST. Huzzah!

Hats to: the UK, Virginia, and California.

[1
