Well, the charges got refunded, but then when I was doing the bills yesterday, I noticed an $89.99 discrepancy that I couldn’t explain. Turns out the thieves went back to “The Company Store” and spent another 89.99 there. SIX DAYS after the initial fraud.
How the hell did they do that? The bank shut them down the same day. It’s very mysterious!
I just called the bank and informed them that this needs to be added to the other fraud complaint. They say they have now added it. Apparently my affidavit about the whole sorry mess is in the mail to me, ready for me to sign. Just gimme a pen, I’m all over it!
My Secret Pal sent me another package! This one actually arrived late last week, and I’ve just been remiss in taking photos and thanking her. Bad, bad Tvini!
Lookee!
That’s a lovely card with lovely sentiments expressed inside. Is this handmade? That’s one crafty area where my skills are zero.
One copy of “At Knit’s End: Meditations For Women Who Knit Too Much.” Which, let’s face it. That’s me.
One container of cucumber melon hand wipes from Bath and one tube of “juniper breeze” hand lotion, both from Bath and Body Works. I so seldom to get to the mall, and when I do, I always go in there and kind of wistfully sigh. “No, I don’t really need that. I should go buy the sensible thing for my kid I’m here for.” I always look back at the store when I leave, though. These smell great, my secret pal did a great job in picking out a nice clean scent. These make me smile.
I am so happy with everything I’ve gotten. Now I have to get off my tuchus and actually mail out my giftee’s second package. Time’s running short.
Thanks again, Secret Pal!
I’m finding I don’t have large blocks of time to alter, although I’m going to make a point of clearing the decks one evening (or maybe morning) to do so. Instead, I am finding that I have enough time to add more rumors and visions. It only occurred to me this morning that hey, the reports on events that I get periodically would make great rumors – even if I do twist ’em up sometimes. But hey, that’s what rumors are all about, eh?
So Prime and Plat, you’ve got rumors.
Man, I don’t know what’s gotten into us lately, but we’ve been on a good cooking binge. Last night was organic flank steak in a mustard-white wine-caper sauce with some leftover asparagus, and tonight I think I’ll make some maple-glazed salmon over baby greens. It’ll go well with the blackberry/raspberry cobbler from last night. Well, ‘cobbler’ is a bit of misnomer, as it’s got more of a coffee cake consistency. Still, it’s sooooo tasty!
And because I haven’t put up a quiz in a while:

Most of it I can explain, but “Upper Midwestern?” Eh?
ETA: Tonight’s glazed salmon devolved into take-out from Wendy’s. We just ran outta time. Maybe tomorrow night!
Last night, the hubby pan-seared some sea bass. To go with it, he whipped up some tomato cream sauce with added shrimp, using fresh basil and tomatoes from our garden. We also had steamed asparagus and some sun-dried tomato ciabatta from the bakery section of our grocery store. I loves me a man who can cook.
Somebody in the knitting channel linked to this pattern. I love it and want to buy it and knit it! For me! Meeeeeeeeee!
Crossposted to knitting and my journal.
I was at my local yarn store (LYS) getting another set of DPNs. I’m halfway through a sock and can only find three needles, the ones that the sock is on, which means I’m kind of a standstill until I either find another needle somewhere in the pile of crap in my den or get new ones. I opted for ‘get new ones.’ (By the way, thanks again, Secret Pal, I’m having fun with it!)
Well, of course I can’t go to a LYS without looking at all their yarn and patterns. I was in the pattern room, poking around, when a 20-something woman came in and opened up Last Minute Knited Gifts to the leg warmer pattern. After a minute, she got out a little notepad and started writing down stuff. I watched her for a minute, then spoke up.
And it went a little somethin’ like this…
Hmm… for tonight… weekly “stitch’n’bitch” or alter in DR? I’m torn! What to do, what to do?
ETA: Decision made! I had a dust-up with another patron at my local yarn shop, so now I have something substantive to bitch about at my stitch ‘n’ bitch.
I heard that “We Love Katamari” is already out in Japan! AND that it’s got a cooperative mode so the hubby and I can play together. AND that it roxxors, as the kids today say.
SCREW THE JAYNE HATS, I WANT PLANE TICKETS IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Predicted high: 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
On the needles: a thick woolen Jayne hat.
Why, yes, I am getting odd looks while knitting in public today, why do you ask?
