Hell Yeah!

Now that money’s flowing nicely again, I hit The Sewing Bird for their sale. Currently, it’s 45% off everything, unless you get the last of a particular colorway or at least 10 skeins (whichever’s less) and then it’s 50% off.

I just bought 13 skeins of Noro Cash Iroha in the “wine” colorway. Silk, lambswool, cashmere, and a little nylon, spun into a beautiful yarn from Japan. It’s what I used to make the wristwarmers in this post. I got enough for a sweater. For me. ME! MWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

And I got it for $71. Normally retailing for $142.

I WIN AT YARN!

You win!! I have 14 skeins of some green Cash Iroha that I’m using to make the Hourglass sweater from Last Minute.

Coincidentally, I’m also making those wristwarmers in EXACTLY that color. Only mine is dyelot B. And now, a question!! How much yarn did you have left over when you finished? I’m done with the first wristwarmer, and I’ve only used up like 20g of a 100g skein. I suppose I could just make 2 pairs of wristwarmers… (hello, Xmas gift someone didn’t know they needed!) Or I could make 1 pair of extra long ones. Ideas?

Coincidentally, I was thinking of the Hourglass sweater from Last Minute, too!

My weird 7-foot niddy-noddy says I’ve got about 31 yards leftover from the wristwarmers. I would have sworn it was more, but there you have it.

    7 foot niddy? Crazy!

Thanks for measuring. Sounds like 2 pairs isn’t gonna happen, but I don’t want 31 leftover yards, so a bit more length on each should do it.

I looked and looked for subsititutes for the HGS, but then I decided, heck with it. This will be the nicest sweater I ever owned. I still only ended up spending about $90 on the whole lot. Right now I’m almost done with the first sleeve.

I think maybe I should drag out all my WIPs this week and make a post to motivate my ass to finish some stuff up…

Heh. I made the niddy myself out of PVC pipe from Lowe’s. My measurements were off when cutting. It ain’t gonna win any beauty contests, but it works for me!

I read “foot” and typed “foot” but I must have been thinking “yard!”

Mine is PVC, too, and I come out with an 83″ skein. We seem to be similarly crazy.

Gorgeous!! You do win at yarn.

I have a huge mad on at my knitting right now. I was making Bombshell from Big Girl Knits, followed the instructions for short rows, then realized that since Bombshell is top-down and the instructions were bottom-up, I’d put them in backwards. Now I’m starting Cherry Bomb, and those short row instructions are similarly weird. Short rows for 8 or 9 rows, then row 10 is going back and picking up the wraps. Then: “If you are a D, repeat rows 1-10.” Wouldn’t that make two darts instead of one larger one? I’m so confused right now I’m ready to chuck all my yarn. Bleah!

Oh wait, this isn’t my blog. My bad.
