Fiber Godmother Questionnaire

General Fiber Questions:
What are your fiber-related hobbies? (Knit, Crochet, Spinning, Needlepoint, etc.) – Knitting. I dabble in spinning.
How long? – 20 years lightly, slightly more seriously for the past 10, hardcore for the past five.
Which are you *most* into? – Knitting.
How would you classify yourself in this craft – beginner, intermediate, advanced? – Intermediate to advanced. There’s always room to learn more – for instance, I’ve never steeked!

What is your current fiber-related obsession? –
What are your favorite items to make? – smaller projects, quirky projects, particularly hats.
What are you making right now? – Aside from a bajillion hats? A short row rib scarf in Silk Garden.

What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? – I don’t have time for much else!

About the fiber:
Your favorite yarn(s) (brand or type)? – any natural fiber. I’m open!
What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? – I’m not keen on acrylics.
Is there a yarn you’ve been dying to try? –
Are you a fiber snob? – I hate to say it… but yes. However, I gratefully accept all gifts in the spirit in which they’re given!

About the tools:
Hardwood, Bamboo, Aluminum, Plastic? – Hardwood, bamboo, or addis!
For knitters: Straight, DPN or Circular needles? – circs or DPNs
Favorite gadget? – I don’t really have a lot of gadgets. I’ve even lost my tape measure, so clearly I am gadget deficient.
Anything you’ve been wanting to try? –

About you:
Do you pamper yourself? Or do you generally come last? – I come last. Even the scarf I am knitting now, while I chose colors I like and tell myself it’s for me, will probably wind up as a gift for someone else.
What does an ideal day off/free hour consist of for you? – sipping mocha, perhaps reading some sci-fi, or knitting something frivolous. I may clean the house, I’m embarassed to say. If I’ve got a lot of free time, road trip somewhere – I love to travel!
Are you allergic to anything? – Not that I know of!
What is your family situation? (Partner, spouse, kids, etc.) – Husband, 6-year-old daughter.
Are you owned by any pets? – Ugh. Yes, two cats. The old guy in the icon wearing the hat, and an obese orange furball.

Your favorite color(s)? – blues, greens, purples, shades in the cool palette
Any colors you just can’t stand? – I’m not keen on orange and yellow. Which is ironic, because that’s what I work with 99 percent of the time.
What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) – Clean, crisp smells. Citrus, sea, wind, grass.
Least favorite? (Maybe you’re not “allergic,” but it makes you want to die) – lavender. Very strong floral scents. Gardenia is an exception, for some reason.
How do you feel about candy? – I’m in favor of it.
Any dietary restrictions? – Nope!

Is there anything that you collect? – Not really.
What is your favorite holiday? – Christmas!

Do you have an online wish list (e.g. Amazon, Things I Want)? If so, share the link. If nothing else, it will give your Godmother more ideas about your likes/dislikes. – http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/ref=cs_top_nav_wl/102-7631636-3460149?type=wishlist

Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? – Yep!
What kind of music do you like? – Folk, big band, bebop, bluegrass, old-timey stuff.
Any special requests in case your Godmother wants to make a CD for you? – I’m really not fond of heavy metal or music that favors noise over melody.

Favorite movie(s)? – black and white screwball comedies, The Lion in Winter, anything with Henry Fonda, Kathryn Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, and the “giants.”
Any “fan” stuff? (e.g. Firefly, Wonder Woman, etc.) – Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Futurama, LOST, The Tick, Wonder Woman, Logan’s Run… I’m just a big ole geek.

Anything we missed? Tell, Tell!
