The Bear They Call Jayne

Is it Jayne-themed underwear with suspenders?

No!

The bear they call Jayne
Charlotte Browncoat Audrey Hackett is costuming Firefly-themed bears for auction at Charlotte’s Can’t Stop The Serenity screening this weekend. I made the Jayne bear’s hat and will return the bear to her to be outfitted with more cunning gear – including a tiny Vera.

I’ve seen the completed Wash, and it is AWESOME. Fantastic idea, Audrey!

Look for a Serenity screening near you!

Oh my lord, that is too much. I love it!

(Also, I need to point out that the cargo pants and combat boots make it look very bearish indeed… for a different kind of bear.)

That is such a fantastic idea! Why didn’t I think of this!?! Geez. Now I’m pushing myself to finish the Firefly finger puppets. I’m awaiting Inara’s dress fabric and Kaylee’s t-shirt fabric to come in so I can have the whole set completed by the end of this summer. I’m still working on the hair for the cast (harder than I thought to do–shakes head).

It looks great! Nice choice! I’m glad you got your hands on the bear first.

You’re going to Austin? You should get one of my cards with your ticket – one of my Jayne hats is up for auction there. I don’t know about bears, though!

Me too! I had to re-do the earholes several times. Having the bear was invaluable.

I really really really want one. Now I’m going to have to figure out how to sew bear-sized cargo pants.

She started with a build-a-bear base, and they have clothes there that fit the bears. She used my large blue sun stamp on the t-shirt, and she filled in the stamped area by hand to be sure it all looked right.

I talked to the wife of the bear-winner 🙂 I was given to understand that the pants were custom-made as well. The boots (SO adorable) and t-shirt probably were from BaB. However, I will research BaB wardrobes. I also hear that a Kaylee bear is in the works. zomg.

The pants very well could have been custom made. Audrey does sew.

Because I couldn’t have made the pants I assumed they weren’t handmade. Heh. Shame on me.

Well, I found the pants! http://www.buildabear.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?ProductSKU=14246&Category=Bottoms&CallingPage=ProductSummary

But no sign of the boots. Maybe THOSE were customized. Hoboy.
