Diagnosis: Ear Infection

The doctor turned up an outer ear infection (commonly called swimmer’s ear), which would explain why she has been complaining that her pillow is uncomfortable no matter which pillow we try. Of course, in our desperation we have purchased a brand new box spring and mattress, which goes to show what exhaustion will lead you to. Eh, she needed a new one anyway. The doctor has also recommended some anti-allergy medicine (Zyrtec) which may help with her sniffling. We’re keeping an eye on other possible causes too.

Other interesting tidbits were turned up. For instance, I didn’t know she thought that sometimes there were goblins behind her curtains at night, and she told us that today at the doctor’s appointment. It would have been worth it to learn that, even if nothing else was turned up.

Poor Em. I hope she’s feeling better soon, and sleeping better too. And go you on the parenting intuition!

Thanks! We have antibiotic eardrops, and also numbing eardrops to tide us over until she’s better, so hopefully things’ll go more smoothly tonight.

Steve got swimmer’s ear a lot as a teenager. Of course, he was also a swimmer, so I don’t know what you can infer from that.

I’m glad Emily had a physical illness the doctor could see to treat as nowadays doctors always tells you “it’s all in your head” if they can’t find anything…lol. Tell Emily that this Saturday I’m going to be riding a horse called “Snoopy” at the ranch I’ll be spending my Saturdays at. He is called “Snoopy” because he pokes his nose into everything!!! He makes a trail ride last three times as long because he’s going off to satisfy his curious nature. GREEEEEAAAAATTTTT, nothing says “Oweee Butt” than a three hour horse ride!! I will do my best to get pics of walking bowlegged…lol.

I hope you feel better Emily!!!

Goblins, huh? I can’t decide if Lady Cottington’s Pressed Fairies might be a good thing to introduce to her or not. 🙂

Good Goblins or bad Goblins? Is there a goblin-fighting fairy that could be on her side? Somehow I bet that book series missed that one.

In the fairy books she reads every night, Jack Frost’s goblins try to thwart the plans of the fairies. The fairies always win, but I guess reading about it every single night right before bed planted something.

I do have a plan to deal with this, though, which I’ll post about later. 🙂
