Worried that cracks in the tile were letting in water to rot the floor, we were just gearing up to fix this…
…when I looked at the dining room ceiling and saw this.
It wasn’t there before the most recent rain.
Crap.
It never rains, but it pours.

oh man that really sucks! I’m sorry!
We had something like that happen when I was younger. There was an overflo of something in the bathroom UPSTAIRS and we were just getting ready to have my sister’s bday party. It flooded the subflooring and ripped down one of the tiles downstairs in our NEWLY renovated dining room!

Ack! That’s awful!
The thing here is that we’re in a one story house. The bathroom floor and the dining room ceiling are completely unrelated – it’s just rotten timing that they’ve both come up at the same time.

The good news is from the pattern of the water stain, both inside and outside issues should be resolved fairly easily. That section of the ceiling can be replaced easily with some drywall, and if you check the drain on that section of the wall for blockage or perhaps a loose tile or two right along the edge, you may find the culprit without any expensive roofing issues.
