“Good News, Everyone!”

New Futurama is on the way! Looks like I’ll be bumping back up to the next tier of cable channels in 2008!

The hubby and I finally got a chance to watch Stephen Tobolowsky’s Birthday Party last night. Excellent movie. Highly recommended. Packed with extras, too – there are gobs of additional stories. Even though I told the hubby that the extras would still be there tomorrow, he really wanted to see them all last night (this is unusual for him). He woke up this morning, bleary-eyed, hanging his head down and muttering, “Curse you, Tobolowsky!” So there’s a ringing endorsement from us both.

In DR news, I put in some moon mage visions, looked for some tattooees (I’ll look again tonight), did some paperwork, hid a Real Gem, tested a thingie in Plat, and generally did the little stuff that needs doing on a regular basis. I’m hoping to schedule a (REDACTED) at the (REDACTED) sometime in the (REDACTED), which I’m sure will be (REDACTED). Isn’t that (REDACTED)? I thought so too!

(Note: my ankles are far more shapeley than this picture would indicate.)
On the knitting front, the toes in the socks are just too dang wide. They fit me like a glove, but of course, they’re not my socks. I’m going to try to rip out the toes and make them narrower. If that doesn’t work… I’m starting over! And this is why every non-paid gift I knit takes forever and a day. I’d rather have it right than quick.

My mother is no doubt muttering (REDACTED) at the monitor right now. Sorry, Mom!

There was a fair amount of response to the picture of my daughter the ham, so I include here another picture to show why you should never tell her to smile. As one of my husband’s friends said, “you guys sleep with your door locked, right?”

But then, when you catch her in a natural moment, it’s wonderful. Of course, we’ll need a new bed after this, but that’s a small price to pay.

Jayne hats on the needles for Ohio, then Florida and Virginia!

I’m so confused! Not upset or anything, but definitely confused. Last I heard, Futurama was going straight-to-DVD, with a couple eps per disk. I’d rather they get aired, then released, so the folks involved can make some dough. I’d never watched it until John got the 4 current volumes for his birthday. We’ve been watching 2-5 eps a day since and are on disk 4 of volume 4.

I had heard that too. Billy West (the voice of Frye) had posted on his message boards that they were doing some direct-to-DVD stuff. Later, though, he posted and said he’d gotten his wires crossed, and he was sorry to have gotten everybody’s hopes up. And now this. Since this is coming from the Chicago Tribune and Reuters and EW have also picked it up, I’m inclined to believe it. http://www.gotfuturama.com/ says that the direct-to-DVD eps mentioned before will go forward, but will air on Comedy Central. I don’t know if this is instead of or in addition to going to DVD.

Hey, I’m just happy to have more Futurama. To quote Slurms McKenzie, “Whimmy wham wham wozzle!”

Oy, I think I just exceeded my geek quotient for the day.

John has “demanded” (requested repeatedly) a knitted Zoiberg. I think the Nautilus on Knitty will do well for the face. Just have to figure out the rest of him. I’ll be looking at Cthulu patterns, etc. too, to come up w/ all the parts.

Just think of the socks as one time-consuming gauge swatch.

And besides, you understand the toe-up construction now, you can adapt any sock pattern to it. Try doing the Crusoe pattern (really shows off the koigu) with the generic toe-up pattern.

Wow, glad to hear about Futurama! I tend to forget about TV, but I did like that show. Only on cable?

Cute daughter. Yes, the first picture is scary.

Only on cable, yep. Comedy Central. Or, of course, you could wait for the DVDs, but since new eps don’t come until 2008 you’ll be waiting a while.

We got rid of most of the cable channels six years ago when we realized we weren’t watching it enough to make it worth the cash. We can probably find the dough to pick it up again in a couple of years. 🙂
