4 8 15 Grr Argh

I got Season One Angel DVD at Borders yesterday. I had a 10% off coupon plus an extra discount, so it came in for about 40 bucks, which is pretty good for a $60 list price. I cranked up episode one this morning to watch while I knitted a Jayne hat for California, and… wait a minute…

Is that Josh Holloway from LOST?

Holy cats! Sawyer’s a vampire!

I always knew he was a bad boy, but man. This explains a lot. No wonder he’s hoarding all the sunscreen.

Gah. Their vampire faces totally gross me out! Maybe even more than Sarah Michelle Gellar’s face!

Why yes, I did have Toffee Nut Bitch Coffee this morning!

    Get in line honey! 🙂

Heather, I got my package today and just squee-ed! So. Happy. that you included the blue sun sticker!!! I’m sorry that it cost more than a buck to ship, I’ll send you another buck! I’m thinking of making a felted wrist bag due to the thickness of the yarn (didn’t think about it!)

    Lookie there!

(I miss Doyle. Has nothing to do with your post, but what the heck. It’s time to break out season 1 again.

My fave exchange from this ep, how I knew this was going to be good (and it was, much of the time):

Cordelia: I finally get invited to a nice place with no mirrors and lots of curtains. Hey, you’re a vampire.
Russell Winters: [caught off guard] What? Uh… no, I’m not.
    Cordelia: Are too!
Russell Winters: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Cordelia: I’m from Sunnydale. We had our own Hellmouth. I think I know a vampire when… I’m… alone with him… in his fortress-like home. )

I didn’t think about it until I was packaging it up, but I figured you’d find a use for it, and I included a little more than originally called for just in case you had something in mind. 🙂

    Glad it got there okay!

I’d forgotten about Doyle too! I think I’d sort of written Season One off in my memory as “okay but not ‘all that'” but it’s better than I remember.

Probably I’m forever tainted for first seasons by the suckage that was Star Trek: The Next Generation season 1. Brrrr.

Hea-THER! How can you forget about Doyle? He was my first experience with Joss Whedon’s propensity to just kill people off. I cried for a full hour after.

Well, I hadn’t forgotten that Doyle existed, just that he was as charming as he was.

Of course Joss had to kill him. The man will kill a beloved character at the drop of a hat.

Wasn’t the actor having some major drug problems at the time? Didn’t he die of an overdose?

Yeah, he was, and he did die of an overdose several years later.

There was a lot of speculation that he was killed off because he was very difficult on the set. The producers always denied it and said it was the plan all along. Joss does have a penchant for killing off main characters, but I do tend to believe that it was the on-set issues that caused them to write him out.

Oh for the good old days… boy I miss that show.

Anyone a Bones fan now? Not to steal the topic, though.

I’ve only seen one issue, and it didn’t really do it for me. In fairness, though, you can’t judge a show by its pilot episode. I point again to first season Star Trek: The Next Generation.
