Carnies and octopi!

After dropping clothes off at Goodwill yesterday, I stopped by a local mall to pick up a few things. When I got there, there was a carnival in the parking lot. So I didn’t shop, but instead went home and told the family. We all went out to ride the rides. My daughter won a cheap stuffed green dog and was so proud of it that she hasn’t put it down since.

That’s our cat, not our daughter.

(Note: everybody “won” something who played this game, but she’s still not letting go of her dog.) About 7pm, after funnel cakes, ice cream, and a few rides, she said it was time to go home and rest, so we did. She doesn’t like being out at night very much. When we woke up that morning, we had no idea we’d be riding a carousel that night. It was a fun surprise!

Last night, I heard from the proprietor of http://www.anatomyofaskirt.com , who apparently is a Browncoat! The current 7-week wait for a Jayne hat was a bit much for her, understandably. Fortunately, she can knit and I can get kits out within a day or so of ordering. Coincidentally, I’ve been admiring her designs for a while now, and my booga bag is on its last legs.

In my ideal world, I’d knit myself this little baby: but realistically, I just don’t have the time. So, we worked out a swap: Cotton and wool kits + special packaging in exchange for the awesomest purse ever from her bag collection. Soon… soon… this little baby will be mine!

I’m doing my happy dance!

Erin, the brains behind the site, has been very responsive, nice, and professional, by the way, so I feel good in recommending her to anyone who wants Cool Stuff.

The kiddo and I have been having a good day. She’s doing her usual Disney Channel website mania, but she’s also wanted to sit out in the car, just being quiet and undistracted, while we talk occasionally or tell stories or sing songs. So we’ve been hanging out. It’s been pleasant. Tomorrow, off to visit my mom. By then, Mom may be vibrating so fast with excess energy that she appears to be a giant blur.

Hope your day brings wonderful surprises to you!

I love those kinds of days!

Sakuracon, the NW/Seattle anime convention finished up yesterday and I spent it wearing my serenity t-shirt and jayne hat (I still need to have Nate order himself a kit!). I got a few compliments on my hat! It wasn’t as popular the person in the professional sonic the hedgehog costume of course! lol

I love it too! I picked up the pattern on a road trip to St. Louis, Missouri last year. It’s called “Eve’s Bag” from Mary Brunner at My Bagatelle.

Looks like My Pollywogs has the pattern, and Wool and Company carries it as a kit for just $18.

Unfortunately, I don’t see anything for it Down Under. I should have sent a pattern along with the hat to Tim-Tam guy for you to snag – you two live in the same town!

Heh. Well I just went and ordered a pattern for their leaves and berries bag which I think is even cuter (and will be a good project to use up the masses of orange yarn my SP sent me, I think I could do it in autumn colours instead of the colours they listed. Super!
