Every GM conversation turns to evil somehow.

They start out fine, as an innocent query for information, then somehow turn to torturing players. Every time. It’s amazing.

[Meriel] Tvini… re your email on elmod… it’s something that’s been in the game since day one. There’s mention of it in a couple of obscure little rooms in and around Crossing, someone made an item from it (a staff, I think), and it started to get more general use. As far as I know, there is no description of it anywhere, but I’m checking.
[Meriel] and that, of course, was supposed to be a (private message).
[Loriene] {g} Yeah, but it was interesting.
[Loriene] I’m going to have to remember that one.
[Loriene] Wonder if it’s related to modwir?
[Liadran] Elmod makes me think of almond
[Meriel] heh, thanks, Loriene. So the other part of Tvini’s question… who made it… was probably (blank) or (blank) or possibly (blank) or (blank).
[Loriene] Ah HAH. “mod” is “tree” in gamgweth
[Meriel] right
[Towint] Evil Tree = Modwir?
[Towint] Loriene? I’m curious… where are these evil trees located?
[Tvini] It’s such an old room, I kind of figured the creator wasn’t here anymore, but it was worth a shot.
[Meriel] Modwir are all over the game.
[Tvini] Yeah, modwir info goes all the way back to (GM document) from 1994.
[Liadran] I have a modwir dining table…maybe I should poison all the food on it since it’s evil.
[Meriel] I’m crawling over the exterior rooms to see if I can find a description of it somewhere for you, Tvini. I really don’t remember seeing one; if I can’t find one, well… we’ll just make something up 🙂
[Tvini] The Crossing, Elmod Close
[Towint] Well, the meaning of the word: modwir is mod (tree) wir (evil)… so… {shrugs}
[Meriel] I think I’ve seen it other places than that. I just believe it’s always beena cite, tho, without any LOOK
[Tvini] (1994 document) talks about how Halflings get all tanked up on modwir.
[Towint] Elmod? Talking trees? Gossiping trees? Shady trees? {g}
[Loriene] Modwir? All over… The wood is used in tons of places. I never knew that’s what it translated to, though. Check the (GM resource) if you’re curious.
[Towint] Since a few locals rest under the shady elmod trees that line the street and engage in idle banter about the affairs of the neighborhood… so, from that phrase, the trees are gossiping?
[Loriene] {sigh} and of course I crash again….
[Meriel] which means you missed Tvini mentioning Halflings get tanked on modwir 😀
[Loriene] They DO?!
[Tvini] Yes! Lemme dig out that info…
[Loriene] {g} Dang. I’ll have to add it more places.
[Ilanya] Hee
[Tvini] D’oh! I was thinking about modwyn.
[Tvini] (From an ancient, never-released to the public doc) “a climbing vine that bears clusters of grape-like fruit. When eaten in small quantities, they are delicious and enjoyable. In larger amounts or when pressed and taken as juice, the fruit acts as a powerful euphoric. In excessive quantities, particularly in concentrated liquid form, it can be fatal.”
[Loriene] I knew modwyn vines had berries…. but I didn’t know the rest. We need a modwyn script to make people sick.
[Tvini] Hee! “Stoned off your gourd, you black out.”
[Loriene] Exactly!
[Loriene] And then they wake up with a pounding headache and occasional nausea.
[Liadran] and wearing a pink dress they have no memory of putting on
[Tvini] Hee!
[Meriel] and a tattoo of a naked Gor’Tog woman
[Tvini] Perhaps an unfortunate tattoo.
[Tvini] Yep, that’d be unfortunate.
[Liadran] …on their forehead
[Tvini] It’s going that extra mile from cruel to inhumane that makes a really good GM.

I never noticed that tree. But then again, I don’t read the room descriptions all that closely anyway *G*

Now I must highlight elmod and find it!
