Stash! Aaaah! Savior of the universe!

I’m going to Stitches South on a bus with the Charlotte Knitting guild. The bus is sponsored by Universal Yarn, so props to them.

To whittle down the clutter in the house, I’ve been maintaining a strict one in / one out policy on my stash for a while now, and that’s not going to change just because I’m going to be in a giant convention center filled with indie yarn vendors. Five skeins have been sold from my stash this week, and tonight I’m going to try to foist off some more on a friend. If I come back from Atlanta with a crazy amount of yarn, I’ll be clearing out my stash like I’m shoveling snow off the driveway.

Not that I would do that. I love snow. And yarn.

Well, I didn’t say it would be easy.

    I admire your restraint

I photographed my stash for my Ravelry page, and I’m heading to Wisconsin this weekend only to prepare to buy more yarn. I hear there’s a really great yarn shop outside of Madison. I also bought a cone of 2/14 alpaca from Valley Yarns on WEBS.

I can’t stop. It’s a sickness. A really handy, relaxing, sickness and you get neat things to wear afterward.

I couldn’t be trusted at a Stitches event. Really. I’d be on the corner begging for just one more skein.

I’ve never been to one of these events before, so it’s entirely possible that I’ll wind up rolling around on the floor, covered in yarn, waving my credit card in the air yelling, “More, more!”

    But for now, I’m hopeful!

So does the one in one out rule apply to unexpected gifts of yarn too?

Gift yarn is in a whole different category. The laws of nature do not apply.

Check out Anzula. She’s a former high school classmate of mine, and her booth at Stitches West was so pretty. Lots of super squishy merino/cashmere blends.
