Happy Thanksgiving!

November 22nd, 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

This morning, I was awakened by my daughter coming into my room and telling me, “Today, you need to start knitting me a new doll. This doll will have green eyes and red hair. And a pink dress… with a heart… that says “Elizabeth.” Note artist’s rendition to the right.

Because I was asleep, I muttered my stock response. “Okay, sweetie.” I wonder if she’s figured that out yet. Hmm…

This child couldn’t say the words “yes” and “no” at age 2 1/2. So even though this is an utterly outrageous request, I’m very thankful for it.

Do you have something in your life which might seem to be a negative that is actually something to be grateful for?

    Oh, that’s adorable.

You are all a very lucky family to have each other, and I am grateful for all of you because I like seeing people happy 🙂

Dude, the heart looks like an anatomical heart. You have a budding cardiologist on your hands!!

I am fairly certain I have done my fair share of carping about things that do not make me happy and trials and tribulations in life. But they all contribute towards shaping me into the person that I am, and the experiences help me keep on truckin’. So I guess I’m thankful for that. And I’m thankful for friends like you who help make everything a little better, and keep me going.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Tell her Elizabeth’s have Black hair and Chestnut eyes – like me. And they have skulls on their shirts. 😉

I <3 reading about you and Emily.

    Thanksgiving

My life is in utter chaos right now, my husband has moved away, and I have lost my job. Why? Because I am MOVING and hopefully will have a better, more secure, more fulfilling life when this tidal wave has finished washing over us. Best of all, I will be a mere 15 minute drive from my dear old friend Tvini. I am very thankful for that!

In a few hours I will sit down with the love of my life and my amazing children and share a quiet Thanksgiving dinner.

And I will remember just how grateful I am that my ex decided to sleep with his hairdresser … 😉

Even though at the time it gutted me and I was convinced I would end up the crazy old lady who has 57 cats, I can honestly say I got the better end of the deal.

Happy Thanksgiving Ms. Tvini, you are an amazing woman, an awesome Mom and I’m proud to know you.

I am also extremely grateful for that! I know it’s hard for you right now, but I know it will be nice for you to bear nearer your family. And of course I’m thrilled to have a Sister of the White Dot nearby.

I’m already thinking about what friends I should introduce you to – got to get that social network up!

It’s amazing where life takes you, isn’t it?

I hope this also shows you that even when things are very dark in your life, there’s always hope and possibility around the corner. Even if you can’t see it, it’s there.

Heh. Her doll Elizabeth does have black hair, but she’s got blue eyes. Also, she’s rockin’ that wraparound shirt, so I think she’s got your sense of style.

Sometimes we really regret taking in that third dog last year. It makes the house really crowded, and things like going to the dog park are much more difficult than they used to be (we have to take two cars now).

But I am mobbed with love when I come home from work. And Kasha puts that giant head of hers on my chest and looks at me with sheer adoration, and I just melt. Three dogs is a lotta dog, but those are three little lives that we saved and made better.

I was looking at your post of the Elizabeth doll, and can’t help but notice how much better Emily’s renderings are. She’s quite the artist.

I feel the same way. There are things in my life I might like to change, but they make all the wonderful things in my life possible, so I choose to be grateful instead.

You’re a good person. Sometimes that trait may bring moments when you heave a heavy sigh, but I’m glad you are who you are.

    Your post

reminds me of the book Marley & Me, which I just recently finished. Have you read it?

I live in a small apartment and can only have my cats for now, but I’d love to have a dog someday. Thank God/dess or whoever for these sweet little lives that touch our own.

Excuse me, must go smooch my kitties now…

    Re: Your post

I haven’t read it. I generally have to stay away from “life of a dog” books because they usually only end one way, and I end up sobbing. I’m just weird like that – I emotionally attach myself to animals way too easy.

Which is probably why in the past few years we’ve had three cats, three dogs and an iguana. We’re currently down to one cat and the three dogs, but we’re already thinking about a kitten or two in the spring.

Give your kitties a smooch for me too. The one in your icon is a beauty.

Sometimes at work the kids get challenging because well… they are teenagers! Then they do something that makes you grin or makes you see that they are really caring young people and it’s all worth it. Or you see them their Senior year and they are so excited about graduating and think they know where they want to be in a few years.

T you are a great mom and an inspiration.

Why yes .. I do. ::soft smile::

    Baby cries.

Most people get seriously stressed out when babies begin crying at the top of their lungs and fussing. I just smile, take it in stride and enjoy the healthy miracle that is that sound.

Due to her many health issues, including being trached, my Michelle was unable to utter a single sound until she was four years old. If you think the sound of a baby crying is annoying, live four years with the silence of a baby crying.

Everytime my graddaughter cries, it makes my heart sing. It is the most beautiful healthy sound in the world.
