Sock kit swap mania!

I’m part of sock_kit_swap, a group of LJ users who were, as the name implies, swapping kits for knitting socks. Packages are supposed to go out in the month of June. Well, today, I got a package from Canada.

EEEEEEEE!

Lookie what I got! A fancy-schmancy package from ! She went all out. Clockwise from top: Tons of free patterns, all of which I love. M&Ms because she knows I love chocolate. Size 1 DPNs because that’s the size I don’t have. Two chocolate loonies, one of which my daughter ate before I rescued the other one for myself. Fleece artist yarn, Merino 2/6, more on which in a moment. A lovely card with some truly bizarre stickers – I love bizarre. Speaking of bizarre, Hello Kitty gum, with the writing all in Japanese. My daughter has already had three sticks of the pink one, which I am now also hiding and doling out as I see fit. Burt’s Bees lip balm, because Burt’s Bees is the best, and stitch markers!

Let’s take a closer look at those stitch markers. I love the Hello Kitty bunny ones, although I don’t know the bunny’s name. I believe she said they were sometimes available in her etsy shop although I’d need to go back and look at the card to be sure. It’s midnight, bear with me. And then she made a non-dangly second set with silver and gold bumps. Those are smaller, so they’re more appropriate for socks. Isn’t that considerate?

But let’s look at that yarn! My local yarn store doesn’t carry Fleece Artist, so this is new for me! I haven’t been anywhere that’s carried it since I started knitting socks. This is a real treat, on the list of “things I want to try but will probably never splurge on for myself.” I can’t believe was nervous about getting this, because it’s perfect.

Really, I’m thrilled with this package. My swapper did a fantastic job.

Thanks, , after I get about five in-progress projects done, I will be very excited to get started with this! 🙂

Wow, that is some gorgeous yarn! I love the colors. I guess doing a leaf pattern of some kind with it would be too easy a thought, huh?

And the stitch markers – both sets – are awesome. What a great package!

Yeay! You liked everything! When I ordered the beads they were just called doll beads. I call them bunny stitch markers. I guess we could name them though, maybe Frank?

I haven’t made any new ones for the shop because the last couple pair took a long while to sell and I haven’t updated my shop in a long time (no creativity, energy, ideas).

I’m super glad you enjoyed your package, let me know how the FA knits up!

You know .. posts like this remind me that its time for me to pick a new project and start knitting something again now that I’ve finally finished my vest. ::laughing:: I love it everytime you post pictures of your projects.

I think you just inspired me to write a sock pattern called “Leaf on the Wind.”

I think ‘s got the answer – they’re a Hello Kitty character named Miffy. Of course, you can call them whatever you want!

Thanks, I’m super-excited about the fleece artist. I’m going to bring it to my weekly stitch meeting tonight so that everyone can drool over it. 🙂

I’d be the first in line to ask someone for a free copy. (I kid! I kid!!)

They both have their good points (badum *ching!*) but as a rule, I like going from the toe up on two circs.

If you want to try socks without a huge time commitment and you’ve got a washing machine (top-loading is best), try Knitty’s Fuzzyfeet. They’re knitted on big needles at a loose gauge, so it’s not as time-consuming as regular socks. Also, you felt them down, so if the stitches don’t look so great, it’s not a big deal.

If you want to give those a go, I can pop some needles and Lamb’s Pride worsted in your preferred shade in the mail. I’ve got insane amounts of forest green in particular. 🙂

OMG those are adorable! Can I yell for help when I get to the heel? ::Makes begawking chicken noises:: So far the only thing remotely sock-like I’ve done are these increadibly simple baby booties from Knit Simple (http://www.knitsimplemag.com/toc.php called soft shoe at the bottom of the page) and **they** are done flat and sewn together. :;flails:: They are cute tho!
