I heard back from one of the Browncoats who wore her Jayne hat at the Browncoat Backup Bash. She says, in part:

“It was by far one of the superior Jayne hats there last weekend and I was proud to be the owner of it. Nathan Fillion complimented it in the bar when I met him. “That is a very cunning hat!” (ok, so not all that original but hey, he could have NOT said anything!).”

Eeeeeeeeee! Brush with fame! Eeeeeeeee! It was so nice of this person to write and tell me that. I’ve got so much stuff to do today, but my energy level just rose about a thousand percent.

And speaking of Nathan Fillion, looks like he’s got a new show that’s coming out. And Tim Minear is exec producer so that’s another point in its favor. It’s on FOX, so let’s hope that they don’t immediately cancel it as they’re prone to do.

At this point, everybody who I guaranteed a Jayne hat to by Christmas should have received one, and everybody who I said “well, probably, but no guarantees” has theirs in the mail. Woot!

Hats up for: AZ, Canada, and CA

oh man. that is so awesome!!! And really, it is a very cunning hat.

times like this, I get so annoyed that the ONE really awesome show I actually liked on TV GOT CANNED. Like seriously. Firefly gets canned but Dr. Who is still on?

As someone who loves both Firefly AND Doctor Who, I have to say I’m glad at least one survived.

And I can honestly say this – if Firefly had been produced via BBC, odds are it would still be on. Blame American Broadcasters if you want to pick on anything. They’re the nitwits who even after seeing the level of fans that still exist for this show refuse to do anything about it.

Maybe if the mindless drones would stop grazing over reality tv so much, they’d go back to quality programming.

ha, sorry, I didn’t mean to totally disparage the good Doctor! I actually think it’s a pretty rockin’ show, although I don’t catch it every week. However, I DO think that firefly was a more accessible show- in that people who might not usually watch sci-fi/fantasy-type shows would find it compelling. I mean really, they are on two totally different budget levels, and networks, so it really wasn’t a fair comparison either. And yeah, if it were on the BBC it’d totally be on still. To me, Doctor Who is much like Star Trek- awesome and fun, but lacking a certain edge, and available in different incarnations… you know? I guess I feel like Firefly was doing something different, and it frustrates me that the boobs at Fox totally screwed it up.
